About Artist
Roseleen Labazacchy, a true Nigerian born in the year 2000 and based in Ibadan, Oyo state Nigeria. Roseleen holds a National Certificate of Education in Fine Art from Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo State.
She is a mixed-media painter. Roseleen was exposed to art from a very young age; Her father being an artist himself enrolled her in the popular Nike Art Gallery at a very young age to learn traditional Adire making, a skill she still practices to date.
This was how she started art professionally and she has been getting better at what she does since then. In the just-concluded international art exhibition and competition organized by Talentia Foundation, Roseleen Labazacchy who participated in the competition amidst other international artists came first in the Mix Media category and was presented with a certificate of achievement in recognition of her artistic endeavor.
Roseleen uses oil and acrylic with fabrics on canvas to consciously project African women's dignity and true African beauty. As an African painter, Roseleen hopes to bring about the emancipation of the true African Women image by showcasing true African beauty in her paintings for the world to see.
She is inspired by the need to see the dawn of a new and better African society, a society that respects and celebrates the African people, cultures, and ways of life. MEDUSA by Rocky Dobey is a hand-inscribed copper sheet with cut diamonds, blue machinist ink and fired porcelain paint. It measures 36 x 48", and framed in aluminum it measures 37 x 49”. It features some of the artist’s notable motifs – a monstrous brick wall with crenelated and flaming towers, inlaid with sparkles of diamond and glass, sword-like flames. New for the artist are the twisting, turning bodies of which there are at least eight. The deep blue background of machinist ink coating the copper provides a momentous, mythological night sky.
For over 40 years, outsider artist Rocky Dobey has been producing intaglio prints, etched metal plaques, engraved copper sheets and site-specific public sculptures. Working anonymously for the first two decades, his work has drawn attention to social and political issues like prison and justice reform, neighborhood gentrification, globalization, indigenous sovereignty, drug rehabilitation and homelessness.
With striking imagery of demonic towers toppled in flames, horrific machines and cryptic symbols of oppression, Rocky's work soon became a recognized and sought-after stamp of organized resistance. Barnabas Macauley uses this painting to examine how we deal with internal conflicts of exactly what to do during our waiting process. The chaos of these interactions however was deliberately not the point of focus in the artwork but how they're being gracefully dealt with.
The best way to often times handle conflict is to first be unlike the conflict we are dealing with. It is to be calm during the rigorous process and avoid the temptation to act desperately, thereby igniting the conflagration of the storm. We need to have those deep interactions in our minds and deal with them without losing our minds.

About Artist
Macaulay Barnabas Osagie is a self-taught Artist and a graduate of the prestigious University of Benin, Nigeria, West Africa. Hailed from Benin heritage, which is known for its rich history, culture, and traditions. Growing up, He was fascinated by esthetics as a form of expression; this propelled his journey into the world of art. His passion for art began at the age of five, scribbling images on the ground using sticks—it evolved into drawings in primary and secondary schools. He was often selected among students to represent my secondary school in various art competitions.
"Knowing that Art fuels my existence and helps me connect with the world better, in 2018, I decided to not only do art for love and relief, but to explore it professionally, and build a renowned career in the industry. One that reflects my views on societal issues and serves as an echo of hope. Determined to pay my dues, I had the privilege of working at Prince Saheed Adelakun's Olokun Art Studio in Abule-Egba, Lagos. It was there I met with other professionals. I created my first series titled "Odan Series"; which was expressed via hyperrealism. I created this series at the point when my life was in shambles; I was going through a rough phase; working on this series was my solace at the time.
