Ben Rosenfeld Mid-Century diamond and ruby duck brooch in 18kt yellow and white gold, English, 1960s. Made in 1961 and modelled as a mallard duck, the animal’s body in textured gold with a polished tail, the head and feet embellished with a Florentine finish, further accented with circular ruby and diamond eyes. This jewel is secured to reverse with a hinged pin and roller clasp fitting. Diamonds: six stones; single-cut; estimated 0.05 carats in total. Rubies: estimated 0.02 carats in total. Maker’s mark “BRLD” for Ben Rosenfeld; date letter “m” for 1961; London hallmark for 18kt gold. Dimensions: 4.6 x 3.0 cm. Gross Weight: 13.90g. Ben Rosenfeld was a British jewelry designer based in Hatton Garden, trading from around 1959 until 1987. His designs gained an international following throughout the 1960s and 1970s, examples of which can be found in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. This item is in good condition, with marks and scratches consistent with general age and wear. Antique, period and vintage pieces, both signed and unsigned, are being offered as worn.
