Wonderful pair of vintage mid-century modern side tables or end tables. One straight table and one step table from the Coronado Group by Luther Draper for Founders Furniture comprised of hardwood, brass sabots, and black satin painted finish. Beautiful vintage condition. Both tables have been completely restored; however, may still retain small insignificant signs of their vintage patina. Please see photos and zoom in for details. NOTE- We have listed here as well, if they are still available, an additional pair of corner step tables in this same style but with a satin finish. Although their sheens are different, they would be very complimentary to each other. These tables are much like “that little black dress,” they just go with anything, and they look stunning!! One side table and one step table designed by Luther Draper in 1955 as part of the Coronado Group for Founders Furniture. Aren’t they FABULOUS? Their straight legs and simple design are classic mid-century modern but versatile enough to go with many other design styles. Both are rectangle and comprised of luscious hardwood with time-honored back beveled edges. The step table’s primary surface is a bit shorter than the side table’s surface, but the upper tiered step is at the same height, so when combined they complement each other nicely. The legs are long, square, and straight with cross stretchers and gorgeous brass sabots on all the feet. The original black finish has been beautifully refreshed, and they have a silky satin finish. They will add the perfect mid-century modern touch to any room in which you wish to place them. We truly love these wonderful tables, and they are sure to be your new favorites too. Founders Furniture was started in 1947 as a subsidiary of the esteemed Knoll International for their residential line and then merged with Thomasville Furniture in 1965. It is said that Luther Draper designed for the whose-who of high caliber furniture companies in the mid-century. He designed The Coronado Group collection for Founders Furniture in 1955. He had an unmistakable clean, modern mark he left on his work. He also designed fabulous furniture including the “India Teakwood” collection for White Furniture Company and the well-known “Boomerang Desk” for Alma, which was recognized for its prize-winning office furnishings. He also worked in High Point, North Carolina, for such well-known firms as Henredon, Myrtle Desk Company...

Amazing Mid-Century Modern trio of square walnut cube stools number 42102-01 with black faux leather upholstered tops by Jack Cartwright for Founders Furniture’s Patterns 7 line. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. One seat cushion has a repair to its underside, one stool has a scratch to one side, and another stool has a repair to one corner. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-20th Century. Propriotor’s note: Although these stools are not marked with a maker’s name, they are stamped inside with the number 42102-01. My 30-year experience in the vintage furniture business lead me to believe they were Founder’s Furniture and with the help of a great FB Group I was able to find this number, without the -01, in one of their catalogs for Patterns 7 designed by Jack Cartwright. It is the number for a fabulous Founder’s Furniture cube side table which looks exactly like these stools apart from the padded removable seats and the measurements are the same. My feeling, as well as some of the experts, that these were a factory special order or undocumented offering using the existing side table as the base and adding the cushion. However, I cannot document that thought. They could have been something someone did themselves, but I do not think that as they are too factory-made in my opinion. What a terriffic trio!!!! Triple your pleasure with this outstanding trio of square walnut cube stools designed by Jack Cartwright for Founders Furniture Patterns 7 line!! They are FABUOLUS!! The tops are comprised of black faux leather and the back of the tops have silver snaps that snap on and off of the top of the cube, it’s nice for cleaning purposes. Also, you can see in the photos that the underneath of the tops is a bit different… one has full faux leather upholstery, and a small repair has been made. The other two have fabric backs. It’s the way we obtained them, and you can’t see that when the tops are snapped on. They are hollow in the center and would obviously make handy foot stools however, we are more inclined to see them used as extra seating. You could use all 3 together as a bench or fireside stools...

Fabulous mod style MCM (mid-century modern) 1967 dining or game table from the New Design Idiom line by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin comprised of red vinyl base and white laminate top table, and 2 slipper chairs by Founders Furniture. Chairs have been reupholstered in a neoprene bonded sponge waterproof wet suit fabric by Big Z Fabric. Wonderful vintage condition. The laminate top has been cleaned and polished but two small rust spots remain. The vinyl is in beautiful shape and the chairs have been reupholstered. Please see photos. We try to show flaws. One of the most remarkable partnerships in the mid-century modern to modern design world was the phenomenal furniture making duo of Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin. Milo Baughman, a 20th Century genius of design, was born in Western Kansas in 1923 but was moved a year later by his family to Long Beach, California. He created Milo Baughman Design Inc. in 1947 and began designing interiors and furniture. Thayer Coggin was born in 1922 in Denton, North Carolina. Twelve years later his family moved 25 miles north to High Point where he grew up surrounded by furniture manufacturing. Thayer’s first love was furniture and Milo’s was design. So, together in 1953, after the two met, history was made in American furniture making by one of the greatest collaborations in the industry. During his career and before his death in 2003, Milo did design for several other companies as well as his own, but it is his collaboration with Thayer Coggin that is most impressive and sought-after today. Thayer Coggin, Inc. is still in business today even after its namesake’s death and is still offering classic selections from the late Baughman’s designs. Founders Furniture began as an independent company in 1947. The president was Edward Thrower. They merged with Thomasville Furniture in 1965 and were sold after to the Armstrong Group. Handsome Campaign style writing desk in light oak bookmatched veneer and brass plate accent and hardware made by Founders Furniture. This piece is in wonderful vintage condition apart from some missing veneer on one of the drawers which has now been repaired. Please see photos, circa 1970s. This marvellous desk needs to be yours! It was made circa 1970s in a Campaign style that was as popular then as it is today. Comprised of four drawers in the left stack and four drawers in the right stack with a single centre pencil drawer. It has very clean straight lines and is covered in light oak veneer which is bookmatched and has a very wide beautiful grain. It makes me think of a tiger skin. This gorgeous graining is accented by brass plated beading around each drawer in the upper row and each bank of three equal sized drawers in its two tower stacks. The antique brass plated recessed Campaign style handles are the perfect highlight to its blocky style and outstanding grain pattern. Its back is beautifully finished making it able to float in a room. This simple but handsome desk would be perfect in your living room, family room, bedroom, or kitchen. Handsome wall unit lighted display cabinet in a light burled wood veneer and smoked glass doors with brass trim and handles by Founders Furniture. This piece is in good vintage condition. It does have some dings and small flaws as you would expect with age but nothing major, circa 1979. This is an incredibly beautiful cabinet circa 1979! Made of a light colored burlwood with some bird’s-eye effect. We thought at first it was maple but could be ash. Regardless of which, it is gorgeous. The cabinet is comprised of two sections, an upper and a lower. The lower third consists of three equal sized burl veneer drawers in the center flanked by two full smoked glass doors with brass hinges and finger pulls. There is a brass-tone one-inch trim piece on the face bordering the doors and drawers. The upper two thirds consist of four equal sized vertical doors.
