George Shackelford Landscape Paintings
George Shackelford is an American visual artist. He got his degree in Art History from 1973–77 at Dartmouth College and his MA, MPhil, and Ph.D. from 1977–86 at Yale University. He was a David E. Finley Fellow and guest curator at the National Gallery of Art from 1980–1984. Afterward, he moved to Houston, Texas, and served as the Curator of European Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston until 1996. He then transitioned to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and became the Art of Europe Chair, where he served for 16 years until 2011. In 2012 he moved back to Texas and became the Deputy Director of the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, where he continues to serve.
