Gillie and Marc Schattner Paintings
Australian
‘We are two people working as one, with a single vision — something no one else is doing in art’.
The Australian artistic duo Gillie and Marc Schattner have worked together for 27 years creating art as one and “spreading the love they have for each other across the world.” The artists first met on a film shoot in Hong Kong and 7 days were married in Nepal at the foot of Mount Everest.
The artists are best known for their beloved characters, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, who tell the autobiographical tale of two opposites coming together to become best friends and soul mates. As unlikely animal kingdom companions, the two stand for diversity and acceptance through love.
Gillie and Marc are passionate eco-warriors and advocate for the protection of animals and the earth. Gillie grew up in Zambia and realized her love for art by sketching the wildlife around her. As a child, she was witness to the murder of an elephant brutally and thereafter dedicated her life and work to protecting animals. While in his twenties, Marc fell in love with conservation on a trip to Tanzania to see Jane Goodall’s work with chimpanzees. From this experience, he gained a deep appreciation of all living and the importance of protecting the balance of nature.
Gillie and Marc spread messages of love, equality, and conservation around the world. Their sculptures and paintings can be seen in art galleries and public sites in over 250 cities. The pair are Archibald Prize Finalists, were awarded the Chianciano Biennale in Italy, won People’s Choice Award in Sydney’s Sculpture by the Sea 2 years in a row, and have earned other notable awards and accolades. Their art has raised hundreds of thousands in donations for the many wildlife charities and causes they support.to

"Alts iz farloyrn" ("All is lost")
"Alts iz Farloyrn” – the latest series by John Paul Fauves featuring large-scale mixed media paintings, sculptures, and his famous art masks.
Inspired by American idols James Dean and Steve McQueen, "Alts iz Farloyrn,” which translates to "All is Lost," was Steve McQueen’s first ever line on stage and represents Fauves own struggle with losing it all yet discovering his true self. “Alts iz Farloyrn” dives deep into the darkness that surrounded James Dean and Steve McQueen and explores their need to live fast. Through this new series, viewers are reminded that although both men overcame challenges to become the Hollywood elite, they struggled to mentally escape their troubled childhood and demons.
Recognized internationally for his Neo-Pop Expressionism, Fauves paintings deal with identity through art, mainstream culture and social media. About this series, Fauves says “I have personally lost it all and what I’ve learned is when you lose it all you can win it all again and create a new beginning!”
ABOUT John Paul FAUVES:
John Paul Fauves (born in 1980) is a contemporary Artist from Costa Rica . His artistic journey started at a very young age after he became a student of Joaquin Rodriguez del Paso , one of the most important Costa Rican modern art tutors. John Paul spent 15 years studying and mastering his technique, and only a few years ago he finally started showcasing his work.
In his paintings he engages questions of identity as they relate to art history as well as our everyday interactions with mainstream culture and social media. Greatly inspired by modernist masters as wellas pop-artists, Fauves mixes fragments of different iconic images in vivid and colourful compositions. Of his experimental and high eclectic style, he says, “art is an expression from the soul, and the soul is somethinglimitless. This is why I am always searching for different elements to bring into the work.”

From GUCCI in Wonderland series
GUCCI in Wonderland series contains two parts.
First one, GUCCI in wonderland, is an inspiration that came to John Paul Fauves after doing a 10 piece collection of some Alessandro Michele art campaigns.
There was so much magic realism in the GUCCI brand and concept that transcended from being a clothing label to something more surreal. It is here when the artist decides to give a hold to his new collection for 2018 named "holy exit" and dive into this new world of colors and wonders.
The second part, Alice in Wonderland, represents the artist a world of fantasy and dreams. It seems as if the author Lewis Caroll could write like a dream.
The same concept of surrealism is what FAUVES feels about Gucci design and branding. It as if Gucci can design and create form the world of dreams, and this is what the artist wants to represent in his art GUCCI in wonderland.
