Josep María Vilá Cañellas Paintings
Josep María Vilá Cañellas was born in Vic in 1913. He was a famous painter and draftsman and was the disciple of Juan Colom, Ivo Pascual and Emilio Bosch Roger. He began to participate in group exhibitions from 1932. His first solo exhibition was at Barcino in Barcelona and Gaspar between 1941–42. Cañellas has won several awards including the third prize at the National Fine Arts in 1948, the prize in the contest “Landscape of Llavaneras'' in 1950 and the Masriera gold medal in 1953. One of his most recent exhibitions was held at the Lamb Art gallery in Barcelona in 1996. It is considered one of the most relevant exponents of Spanish Impressionism.
