This exceptional vintage sterling silver tea set consists of a coffee jug, teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl. Each piece of this fine set has a plain rectangular cushion shaped form onto a stepped collet style base with Art Deco bracket style feet. The surface of this impressive vintage Art Deco tea set is plain and unembellished, with an applied reed decorated border to the upper portions. The coffee jug and teapot are fitted with hallmarked hinged covers and retain the original Art Deco style painted carved wood finials; the hinge to each piece is ornamented with an applied pendant drop design. These fine antique George V sterling silver menu card holders have circular shaped bases. Each piece is surmounted with an impressive wishbone* shaped design with a paralleling shaped support. The subtly convex bases are encircled with an elevated scalloped border. The weighted bases of these impressive menu holders are fitted with green baize to the underside. This impressive set of antique silver menu card holders is fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, secured with two hinged catches. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'Robert Stewart (Jewellers) Ltd, 75 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow'. A wishbone, otherwise known as the furcular, is a forked bone found in birds and some dinosaurs. The main function of the bone is to provide strength between the neck and breast, to protect the creature during battle.
