Artist Bio & Statement: Hiroshi Sato was born September 1987 in Japan. From the age of three to fourteen he spent his childhood in Tanzania. While there, he recognized where he lived was not home, and where he called home was some place he hardly ever knew. From a very young age, he understood he was not a participant of his surroundings. Therefore, his role was of an observer. This recognition and his exposure to alternate cultures, class, wealth, language is his backdrop to his interest in perception and how it is explored in the singular image. He enrolled in the fine-arts program at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, graduating with a Bachelors and Masters in Fine Art. Hiroshi Sato is focused on contemporary realist oil painting. He is best known for paintings of figures in an interior environment. He draws influence from past and present artists including Vermeer, Degas, Andrew Wyeth, Euan Uglow, Hopper and Chuck Close. Sato’s work shows his interest in geometric design principles of the old masters and is currently exploring the simultaneous illusion of form and flatness in space. His goal is to portray, and better understand our various states of consciousness within ourselves through the visual medium. I have worked on a new collection of abstract paintings.This new abstract series is dedicated to a "heart- mind connection". This is the one of them called "Balance". While working on this artwork, I was reflecting on finding balance in life and in relationships. To find balance is not having a black-and-white thinking which means we think in extremes without considering the grey or middle ground. Here an intense painting in primarily black, blue, red, green, yellow, orange tones. The wild but structured elaboration has created a highlight here. This painting is a real eye-catcher that brings that certain touch of color to your home. This artwork is done with acrylic paints on canvas on which a coat of High Gloss vanish was applied. It gives a painting a nice beautiful glossiness. It also protects the artwork from fading, dust, humidity. The painting is sold unframed, the sides are painted on black. It's ready to hang. The Chandelier series for Ash portrays an inner mantra, that light is a fuel in which we all connect, the artist goes on to explain: "We all have a light inside of us and that light is how we connect in some realm; whether it be a mentor, a friend, a stranger, a nurse. It is this innate human connection that brings us together and for me, a chandelier represents the complexity and beauty of this and so the idea of providing this light for one another is what motivates me in this collection." Almonte is constantly developing her aesthetic, further breaking the barriers of how she applies paint onto the canvas by carefully manipulating her dried acrylic pallet. Cutting and reapplying the leftover paint onto new works of art, Almonte creates a refreshing and unique design that gives her work a new dimension and a more 3D-like feel.
