Part of a series of three furniture pieces, Metal Volumes have been exploded at various energy levels in a sequence of crafted detonations. These elements have been treated to reach a completely unique aesthetic and feel. The process and the inherent uncertainty of the outcome is a defining element of the work. The production of the explosions takes place in the Portuguese countryside with a team of explosive ordnance experts, and has been recorded into a film directed by Frederico Velez. “We are not able to control anything but our attitude regarding life, and even that is at some point uncontrollable.
