Carved Teak Indian Temple Column
Located in Chicago, IL
This monumental Indian column once supported part of the entrance or courtyard cloister in a grand mansion. Originally part of a series, this individual column is all that remains. The piece comes in multiple stacked segments, distributing the weight of the original structure from its floral motif capital through its stone plinth. Only one is available. Origin: Rajasthan, India, 19th century.
During the colonial period, Indian traders amassed huge fortunes and some of that wealth found its way into mansions and palaces. A hundred or more years later, many (if not most) of these structures are obsolete or the fortunes of their owners have dwindled. Many are in urban areas in which land is very valuable now and aggressively sought for multi-storey buildings. Old single-storey mansions are often disassembled piece-by piece and the parts sold on the international market. India is one of very few countries that have the labor supply to decommission old structures in this meticulous way.
The column could be used in an architectural, load-bearing way or as a free-standing decoration...

Victorian Stick and Ball Partition Panel With Gate, Late 19th Century
Located in Harlingen, TX
This stunning antique Victorian stick and ball panel is an architectural salvage from a bank where it was used as a teller's partition screen and gate. It is constructed of solid wood (likely mahogany) and made sometime in the late 19th century or early 20th. It could be repurposed in a number of ways making it a versatile historic architectural piece.
Please note that the panel alone is not stable and is somewhat delicate, as it was originally attached to a ceiling at the top and bank counter...

Terracotta Beaux Arts Architectural Facade Block Tile
By Stanford White, Louis Sullivan
Located in Garnerville, NY
American terra-cotta Beaux Arts architectural block tile. The academic architectural style taught at the Ecole des Beaux Arts incorporates French Neo-classicism with Renaissance and Baroque elements. This architectural piece is made of cast white glazed terra-cotta. Exquisitely detailed scroll and leaf pattern that can function incorporated into a building facade or a garden element. Good overall condition with some chips and overall crazing to the glaze, but structurally sound and sturdy. No structural cracks to compromise the integrity of the block tile.
One of two architectural tiles offered here. This piece was found in the garden of a mansion in Poughkeepsie, NY. The tile came off of a building in downtown NYC...
