Poul Henningsen 'PH 80' Floor Lamp for Louis Poulsen in White

About the Item

Poul Henningsen PH 80 floor lamp for Louis Poulsen in White. The PH 80 was put into production after Henningsen's death, as a celebration of what would have been his 80th birthday. A designer focused on the future, Henningsen had been working with plastic materials as the new material for his fixtures. The PH 80 floor lamp is made of opal acrylics, instead of glass, with the intention of making a less expensive product with the same lighting characteristics as a glass fixture. The PH 80 floor lamp emits diffused light with the majority directed downward. The opal acrylic shades provide comfortable lighting, illuminating the lamp's surroundings with a warm glow. The polycarbonate and acrylic shades sit elegantly atop a black or white powder-coated steel stem. Price is per item. Available in unlimited quantities in all white, black and white, or white with red diffuser. Accommodates 1 X 100W equivalent standard medium base (e26) LED bulb. Dimmer on the 8.5' cable. In-stock lead time up to 5-6 weeks. Out of stock lead time can add 10 weeks or more. Please note in-stock availability subject to change at any time. Made to order. All sales are final.

The fixture emits diffuse and symmetrical light. The majority of the light is directed downwards, and the opal acrylic shades provide comfortable room lighting. The red hue of the top reflector helps give the light a warmer glow. Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system back in 1925-1926. The first lights using the system were designed by PH in cooperation with Louis Poulsen for an exhibition in Paris. This partnership continued up until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free light, direct light where it was most needed, and create soft shadows, using incandescent bulbs as a light source. PH 80...
