Sergio Rodrigues for Oca Jacaranda & Leather Cantu Chairs, c 1959 Brazil, Signed

About the Item

An important set of six (6) Jacaranda Rosewood 'Cantu' dining chairs by Sergio Rodrigues for Oca Arquitetura e Interiores in original leather, signed with labels and Brazilian tax stamps under each chair as can be seen in the photos, this detail is of great importance for collectors and art / design investors. In addition each Jacaranda chair frame is stamped with Sergio's workshop logo 'OCA'. These signatures confirm that both the leather sling seats and the Jacaranda frames on all six chairs are original. The 'Cantu' design was awarded third place in the IV Concorso Internazionale del Mobile, Cantu, Italy in 1961. Excellent and ideal examples for any serious collector or investor of fine art and design. This set 'Cantu' chairs feature Jacaranda Rosewood frames with vivid grain and beautifully aged and highly patinated leather which gives ample personality to this set. The exotic Brazilian Rosewood is exceptional and nicely paired with the lightly distressed leather which gives plenty of character to the set, providing a refined casualness that you can't get from most chairs. These chairs speak volumes - they say that while you have style and distinguished taste, you don't have to try that hard to be cool, you just simply are. *Note, we have an additional four Cantu chairs in a slightly different leather available that can go with this set if desired to make a set of ten chairs.
