Breathtaking Pair of Chests by Renzo Rutili in Cerused Oak and Bird's-Eye Maple

About the Item

This magnificent pair of commodes is shipped as professionally photographed and described in the listing narrative: Meticulously professionally restored and completely installation ready. If a piece feels like Tommi Parzinger, but is marked Johnson Furniture, there can be only one answer as to its Designer: Renzo Rutili. Mr. Rutili was a seminal furniture designer of the 20th century who is sometimes overlooked in retrospect. Many of his designs are more sophisticated, cutting edge and downright fabulous than any produced during his era - his work takes a backseat to no one. These Johnson Furniture Company chests, circa 1955, are a mesmerizing example of this Gentleman's awesome talent. Exceptionally crafted cerused oak case construction with lovely detail. The drawer fronts are veneered in bookmatched bird's-eye maple. Material selection and execution that is beyond incredible. Stunning solid brass hardware accent the drawers. This pair is intended to anchor and important space. Excellent restored condition. The chests have been professionally cleaned and meticulously restored and re-lacquered. All hardware has been professionally cleaned and polished. The brass demonstrates wonderful patina. Retains the Maker mark. The price listed is for the pair.
