Børge Mogensen for P. Lauritsen & Son Sideboard Cabinets, 1950s Denmark, Signed

About the Item

This stunning well preserved all-original pair of BM-59 sideboard cabinets by Børge Mogensen for P. Lauritsen & Son are in mint condition. Sourced from the original owner, who is retired military and had purchased the set in the 1950s. The owner cared for it meticulously, oiling and maintaining the teak regularly, resulting in its beautiful glowing finish and incredible original condition. Signed with Danish Control labels and makers mark on the rear. Ideal for a collector, art and design investor or the interior designer looking for something truly special for their client. This set includes a chest of drawers and one large sideboard cabinet. The cabinets are crafted of warm teak with brass hardware. The larger cabinet opens its double doors to reveal an oak interior with silverware drawers that retain their original deep blue felt liners and adjustable shelves, raised on sled base legs with large exposed brass hinges - the signature mark of this design. The smaller companion chest of drawers has 2 smaller pull-out drawers and 3 deeper ones, each with recessed brass drawer pulls - another signature mark of the design. Two original keys are included. This pair of Børge Mogensen sideboard cabinets can be used paired next together or separated in the room and would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Craftsman, Classical, Scandinavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Space Age Mod, Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office.
