A Hubert de Givenchy Catwalk Dress  in Satin and Lamé Velvet Circa 1985

Circa 1985 France Haute Couture A Hubert de Givenchy dress for show in emerald silk satin and gold lamé velvet dating from 1985/1990. Straight dress slightly skin-tight and long sleeves with huge shoulder-pads. Long dickey in ribbed velvet and lamé with gold thread framed by molded and striated glass buttons, framed by green bakelite. No label but a show tag in cotton indicating 120 Sadya / Anneliese and No.120 Melissa. Green taffeta lining, weighted in the hem of the dress for a perfect fit. This dress comes from the wardrobe of Madame Slavick, who was a model at Givenchy in the 1980s. To note the variations of colors on velvet are not a defect, but only the catch of light on the photo. It is trimmed in handcrafted “passementerie”. The neckline does up with ball shaped buttons and loops. The body of the garment is loose fitting and flares to the bottom. The sleeves are somewhat bell shaped with an open cuff that does up with metallic gold buttons. The fabric is a rich looking metallic thread blend brocade.
