About the Item

This rare to find and collectible "Bouchon Quadrilobe" (Quatrefoil Stopper) styled splash flacon was made by the French glass manufacturer Pochet et du Courval (see molded marking on the base). These bottles held only parfum (extrait) for various Guerlain fragrances. Based on the sticker on the base of the bottle and the fact that the glass stopper has a plastic covering it dates from 1960-1967 (according to perfume historian Grace E. Hummel from "Cleopatra's Boudoir"). The paper label with the laurel leaf border is known as "etiquette laurier". This flacon holds still an amount of approximately 1 cm - 0.3" of Jicky parfum (extrait) and comes in its original green velvet box with gold floral ornaments on the lid. Jicky was originally created in 1889 by Aimé Guerlain. According to the legend, the perfume was named after a girl Aimé Guerlain was in love with when he was a student in England. It is more likely, though, that this perfume is named after his uncle Jacques Guerlain’s nickname – Jicky. It is classified as a fougère (fern) fragrance for women. Top notes are lavender, lemon, mandarin, bergamot and rosemary. Both bottle and stopper are undamaged. Paper label on the flacon is in good condition (a little darkened and covered with a transparent tape). Paper sticker on the base is still present and clear. Base of bottle is marked "Guerlain Made in France". Fragrance still holds its delicate top notes. The box is intact but in worn condition (little abrasion of the ornaments and stained inside).
