About the Item

Cloisonné vase with lid with rich floral decoration, peonies and butterflies, light blue background of the mid-twentieth century, of Chinese origin. Belly-shaped, of remarkable quality the floral design the polychrome coloring of the enamels. The inside of the jar, as well as the bottom, are both enameled in blue color. The vase is from a private collection in Milan, is in good condition and is of Chinese provenance. Cloisonné, also called Byzantium lustre, is a technique of artistic enamel decoration in which thin wires (filigrees) or laths or small metal (usually copper) partitions, cells or alveoli (called cloisons in French), are soldered or glued to a support plate of the work to be built; then, in the areas surveyed by the metal, enamel is poured, thus obtaining a kind of mosaic whose tesserae are circumscribed exactly by the metal laths. This technique is of the "additive" type of enamel matter on metal. The vase is in good condition. For the export from Italy of an art object that is more than 50 years old, an export license called BELLE ARTI must be applied for from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. the issuance of such a government license takes a couple of weeks or so, to be added to the order processing time.
