White Jade Double Gourd Pendant, Qing Dynasty
Located in Nova Scotia, NS
This antique nephrite jade double gourd pendant is of the Qing Dynasty and has a fine texture with a glossy luster. It is primarily white with some slight inclusions in the left lower body but in bright light the pendant has a slight green tinge.
This lovely jade pendant consists of a smaller gourd on top of a larger one surrounded by vines with smaller hanging gourds. The vines create numerous holes from which to hang the pendant. There are also etchings of stars on the body of the gourds along with tendrils of curling vines.
In the Chinese culture, the double gourd is a symbol of fertility and good fortune. Gourds are also associated with Li Tie Guai, one of the eight immortals.

Chinese Heavenly Blue Tube Cong
Located in South Burlington, VT
This is an authentic one of a kind Chinese heavenly blue stone tube or Cong from Northwestern China, 3. This comes from a private collection.
Cong, symbolizing earth, were ritual jade objects having a square outer section around a circular inner part, and a circular hole, though jades of a bracelet shape also display some of the characteristics of cong. They clearly had great significance, but despite the many theories their meaning and purpose remain a mystery.
Dimensions: The Cong is 4.62 inches tall and 1.75 inches wide and is crafted from a scarcer blue calcite stone.
This kind of stone while known, is quite hard to find now in this form.
Notice the patinated surfaces which are not uncommon on these objects.
Older, neolithic congs were handmade and hand abraded and hand polished using primitive...
