18thc. Chinese Export Porcelain Imari Bowl Hand Painted Qing, Ca 1730
About the Item
This is a beautiful Chinese Export porcelain footed Bowl with fine Imari hand painted decoration, which we date to the turn of the first half of the 18th century, circa 1730.
This bowl is well potted on a fairly high foot and of a good 9 inch diameter. The glaze is white with a very slight blue tinge.
It is beautifully hand decorated both inside and outside, using various shades of underglaze blue with an Imari palette of over-glaze burnt orange, red, a light salmon color and gold.
The inside centre has an Imari wheel with side motifs all in a double blue circle. The inner rim has a border pattern with diamond diapers and floral detail.
It is the outside decoration that makes this bowl particularly good.
The outer bowl is finely hand painted with a four section alternate pattern of two scrolls containing an incense burner, motifs and other precious things and a floral scene having a large chrysanthemum and a tree peony, all in good detail with gold-gilt highlighting.
There is also an upper border under the top outer rim which is similar to that on the inner rim.
The painting is really well done and has been carried out in a beautiful free flowing style, typical of the period.
The base is unmarked.
