Antique Japanese Imari Porcelain Barber's Bowl
About the Item
A fine antique barber's bowl.
In Japanese Imari porcelain.
With traditional blue underglaze and cold-painted iron red decoration and embellished with gilt highlights througout. The bowl's center depicting a large vase and peony flower in a field with a fence pattern.
The rim with a crescent-shaped cut out section for the the neck, two pierced holes for a hanging wire, and alternating cartouches with flower decoration on a blue ground.
Simply a wonderful and hard to find antique Imari porcelain form!

Overall Condition:
It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
Condition Details:
There is some light fritting to the foot rim, some open bubbles in the glaze from the firing, and some rubbing to the gold. There is rubbing the cold painted decoration (particularly noticeable in the lightest pinkish tones of the iron red decoration. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
