Decorated throughout with floral devices in underglaze blue, iron-red paint, and gilding.
Each with a strainer inside the dish.
Simply a great pair of Japanese porcelain soap dishes in classic Imari style!

Early 20th Century or earlier
Overall Condition:
They are in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition.
Condition Details:
Both strainers have chips and hairline cracks. There is a firing flaw to the interior of one soap dish, and each dish has some wear to the glaze where the strainer rests. Otherwise, there is rubbing to the gilding here and there, some fine & light surface scratches, and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
