Pair, Chinese Export Qianlong Blue & White Porcelain Platters - Deer Landscape

About the Item

Chinese export, Qing Period (1644-1795) and Qianlong Dynasty (1735-1796), circa 1770. A matched pair of period Chinese Export porcelain platters or serving dishes with a fine quality blue and white underglaze and brown edges. The exterior rim of the platters is scalloped with unusual pointed corners. The center recession features a landscape with cranes flying over pagoda houses and a pair of spotted deer. In traditional Chinese culture the spotted deer is one of the most prized features on porcelain which symbolize longevity. The undersides are unmarked and unglazed with little excess material which is a strong point for the quality of kiln and maker. Platters measure: 12.625" x 9.25" each. Note: These platters come from the estate of a Cambridge Massachusetts Estate Harvard Professor.
