Pair Chinese Imari porcelain and ormolu vases, c. 1700. Kangxi Period.
About the Item
A fine pair of Chinese porcelain vases, c. 1700, Kangxi Period, ormolu mounted. The trumpet shaped vases, hand painted in Imari style, with exotic birds amongst flowering plants, above a continuous lappet and cell net motif. The upper rim painted with stylised flowers in panels, beneath a cell diaper band.
Both vases, mounted in high quality 19th Century French ormolu mounts, cast in rocaille style, and gilded. The rim, mounted with a continuous band of acanthus leaf, divided by beadwork.
Height – 36.5 cm, 14 3/8”.
Diameter – 20.3 cm, 8”.
Condition – Short hairline to neck of one vase. Otherwise excellent condition. No restoration.
