Persian Hand Painted Earthenware Vase with a Lion and Antelope

About the Item

From a small collection of five Persian hand painted pottery vases is this stylish earthenware rectangular shaped vase hand painted with a lion and an antelope amidst flowering stems and dating from the early to mid 20th century. The rectangular vase is decorated on two sides in colored enamels on a white ground one with a stylized rampant lion and the other with an antelope crouching amidst flowering shrubs with similarly painted end panels with tall flowering stems The vase has a flat top with a narrow rounded funnel shaped neck and the top is painted with small floral stems with patterns around the neck. The base has a black partially glazed finish and the vase is not marked. In good presentable condition with customary firing faults.
