About the Item
Two wing-shaped antefix ornaments from Thailand, late 19th century. Glazed earthenware, with a beautifully crackled finish.
Reclaimed from old constructions and preserved in time, these architectural details were a decorative staple in many traditional Thai buildings, particularly temples, pagodas and homes.
These 3 pieces are glazed in white, with the characteristic celadon crackled finish surface. The dimensions of each piece are in the pictures. They come mounted on a detachable metal stand, specifically made for each piece.

From North-Central Thailand, Sukhothai Kingdom, a 15th century sculptural architectural ornament, high-fired glazed stoneware roof tile for decorating and elaborately embellishing the roof of a Thai temple, which was generally constructed of wood and therefore long perished, leaving the remains of the roof tiles, such as this finial.
