Thai Ceramic Vase, Mid 19th Century

About the Item

A ceramic vase from Thailand, with light cream glaze and painted floral decorations. Mid 19th Century. While the golden age of Thai ceramics ended around the 15-16th Centuries, Thai craftsmen learned the art through generations, later producing smaller numbers of pieces with different earthenware materials and glazing techniques, inspired by the original master artisans of legendary Thai kilns in regions like Si-Satchanalai and Sawankhalok. This small vase is beautifully preserved, measuring approximately 4.75 inches in diameter and 8 inches high. Its light green glaze and its traditional celadon-style crackled finish are reminiscent of the impeccable craft of ancient Southeast Asian ceramics.
