Antique Fine Carved Chinese Hong Mu or Mahogany three Drawer Qing Altar Table
About the Item
This elegant Altar table was made in the Chinese Shanxi period and dates approximately 1850.
It is well constructed using mortise and tenon joinery techniques as was common on these tables.
The altar table has a floating panel top with three drawers below. The drawers and apron are decorated with hand-carved geometric and floral designs. The table has a warm dark brown finish with a great patina.
This altar table was originally used in a Qing dynasty household as a domestic altar for ancestor worship. The carvings are highly detailed and of high quality. The table is structurally very good and will be a great side table or wall table.

- Condition:Repaired: The lower left corner ornament was missing. This was repaired in our atelier. Replacements made: The forged steel drawer rings are not authentic to the piece. This is an older replacement but suits well so was left as is. Wear consistent with age and use. The table is in a very good and authentic condition. The table was gently cleaned in our workshop and a new protective wax coat was applied.
