Antique Chinese Side Cabinet with Carved Panels, Gilt Accents and Hidden Drawers
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Chinese antique side cabinet from the early 20th century with brown lacquer, carved panels, gilded accents, hidden drawers and brass hardware. Created in China during the early years of the 20th century, this side cabinet features a rectangular top with central planked boards, sitting above an elegant façade made of two doors. These doors are adorned with carved panels in their upper section, showcasing scrolling furniture on which various vases are displayed. These motifs, carved in low relief, are surrounded by a gilded frame contrasting beautifully with their reddish brown lacquer. The doors, made of slightly raised panels in their lower section, are fitted with ornate brass hardware: the medallion is pierced and etched and supports delicate pulls. These doors open to reveal a lacquered interior with hidden drawers at the top. The cabinet's sides presents recessed panels and the back is simply planked. The ensemble is raised on four short feet with discreet carved spandrels in the front. With its clean lines and subtle décor, this antique Chinese side cabinet...

Vintage Chinese Tall Black Lacquered Elmwood Chest with Six Drawers
Located in Yonkers, NY
A tall vintage Chinese black lacquered elm wood chest from the late 20th century with six drawers and wooden pulls. Created in China during the second half of the 20th century, this tall chest, made of recovered elmwood, exhibits a thoroughly contemporary design. The chest features a rectangular top with beveled accents, slightly overhanging a perfectly organized façade. Six drawers (two small ones over four larger ones) with wooden pulls, make up that façade. The dark lacquer covering the elmwood creates a robust and radiant patina reminding us of the centuries old traditional Chinese mastery in lacquered wood. The sides are made of recessed panels while the back is sans black lacquer. The ensemble is raised on a simple rail base. Thanks to its great combination of contemporary design and traditional technique, this large Chinese vintage dark lacquered elmwood chest...

Chinese Qing Dynasty Shanxi Wedding Cabinet with Original Red Lacquer
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Chinese Qing Dynasty period Shanxi wedding cabinet from the 19th century with original red lacquer and hand-painted floral décor. Created in the North-Eastern province of Shanxi during the Qing dynasty in the 19th century, this wedding cabinet features a linear silhouette perfectly complimented by its original red lacquer. Adorned with a faint floral décor with various objects such as vases raised on pedestals, the façade showcases two doors fitted with a traditional lock, opening to reveal an inner shelf with two drawers and a hidden compartment concealed under a removable panel. Chinese Wedding cabinets often housed wedding gifts or the dowry of a new bride. They were traditionally given as a gift by their parents for the couple moving into their new home. Most original wedding cabinets have a single shelf and two drawers.
