Mid-19th Century Japanese sixfold screen with atmospheric Nanga style painting.
Black ink over gold leaf on paper, of a peaceful mountainous landscape emerging from mist. In the foreground a wide river with sailboats and to one side a cliff with clinging pine trees and pavilions at the base.
Each panel is mounted on silk brocade borders within black lacquered wood frames, original hinges etc.
Wear and old restorations consistent with age (front & back).
