Japanese Asian Signed Four-Panel Folding Byobu Showa Screen of Performing Geisha
About the Item
A gorgeous four-panel Japanese Byobu folding screen depicting a scene of seven entertaining geisha women, perhaps in a bamboo garden of the Imperial court. The vibrant, rich colors, gold leaf, and beautiful hand-painted detail of the characters and their lovely kimonos makes this screen quite an attractive work.
The screen is signed (in black ink) and sealed (in red) by the artist.
Likely from the mid to later Showa period (1926-1989).
A beautiful, engaging work. Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian screen collection or make for an eye catching stand alone accent piece in about any setting. whether used as a room divider or hung on the wall as a work of art.
