About the Item

A six-panel byōbu screen, painted in polychrome pigments and gold powder on a light background, depicting a vast agricultural landscape immersed in nature, with rice fields, pathways, and a valley framed by gentle hills and mountainous reliefs. Traditional minka houses host groups of figures engaged in everyday activities. The panels are finished with light silk borders, a lacquered wooden frame, and metal corner fittings. Signed Eisho Kano (-1888) in the lower right corner. Period: Edo–Meiji, mid-19th century Dimensions: 169.5 × 377 cm Condition: Excellent overall condition. Some paper cracks are visible along the panel joints, along with minor surface wear. The lacquered wooden frame shows some signs of wear.
