Antique Chinese Gourd Wooden Bottle

About the Item

Antique Magic Chinese Gourd Wooden Bottle. A double gourd shaped wooden bottle believed to carry magic and medicine for the immortals. Carved sculpted pieces of wood are held together with cooper wire that is tightly wrapped around the middle and bottom of the bottle. This antique wooden shaped gourd bottle has cutouts in each side that create fortune. The cutouts are symbols believed to allow fortune to continually enter the bottle and this bottle is never empty, it is bottomless filled with fortune. Who ever made this folk at wooden bottle was certain that its creation symbolized the embodiment of fortune and wealth for the person who possesses it and would manifest such. The gourd image representations, symbolize universality and immortality (primitive time) as well as the positive notions of regeneration and emptiness. The sound of the term gourd, in Chinese Fu Lu also means fortune and wealth, with the gourd seeds symbolizing productivity and fertility. Gourds in China are also related to fertility rites, harmonious connubiality and parenthood. In good condition.
