19c Antique Copper Brass Coal Scuttle Umbrella Stand Holder Netherlands

About the Item

Handsome, hand wrought, industrial 19th Century Dutch Copper and Brass Coal Scuttle referred to as. "5KAN. This scuttle was used to carry coal or water. It has been elegantly repurposed as a unique entranceway umbrella and/or cane stand Material and Construction: The stand is primarily made of copper with brass detailing, particularly around the top, middle, and base. It has a cylindrical shape with a flared top and a circular base for stability. Design Elements: The stand includes a brass plate with the inscription "SKAN," which denotes the maker This model also features a ceramic handle on the side, decorated with a traditional Dutch blue delft design Patina and Finish: The copper has a warm, aged patina, which is typical for vintage items. It may have some surface marks and signs of wear consistent with its age. Overall in remarkable condition for almost 200 years old. Being sold with its lovely aged patina, the copper and brass will shine up like new . Origin and Style: These stands are often associated with 1850-1880 Dutch design and are appreciated for their functionality and decorative appeal. Care and Maintenance: To maintain the stand's appearance, it can be cleaned with a mixture of salt and lemon juice or polished to restore its shine.
