An Indian Haveli Architectural Facade with Three Windows and Balcony

About the Item

This Indian haveli facade, crafted in the 1850's in Gujarat, India, features a beautifully designed balcony with three windows supported by four columns. The balcony showcases modest yet exotic carvings, with iron Jali (lattice) work above each window for ventilation. Between the jali are four elephant-floral hybrid brackets symbolizing strength. The balcony also features palm tree stylized motifs representing peace, along with marigold (luck), pomegranate flower (fertility), heavenly musician (harmony), and unique animal-floral hybrids like peacock-marigold and elephant-mango leaves. Below the balcony, the four Indian Gujarati columns lift up the structure. The columnar beam is adorned with floral motifs, with various symbolic meanings. The brackets showcase exceptional craftsmanship with animal-floral hybrids. The capitals are exquisite - decorated with floral, animal, and geometric designs, featuring Champa flower, pomegranate flower, peacock, hexagons and, stars. The fluted shafts are overlaid with lotus motifs, and the columns sit atop beautifully carved sandstone bases featuring lotus designs.
