This is a very old Japanese large wooden mortar. It is from the Meiji period (1860s-1900s). The material is zelkova. It is a powerful object carved from a large zelkova tree. It has an overwhelming presence. It weighs about 60 kg. You will never find this item again. It is a very rare item.
