Wrought Iron Grille, Spain, 17th Century

About the Item

Wrought iron grating with ten vertical double-pearl bars decorated with small discs and other simpler verticals (up and down planes, the central tubular and inserted through the vertical). The bars have a slight vegetal relief, a technique also present in two discs on the sides of the piece. The form is slightly reminiscent of works preserved in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and a confessional box in the Metropolitan Museum of New York dated 1629 (inv 57.137.51) and another in the same museum by Francisco González (inv 56-234.12 Ad). Size: 104 x 143 cms. Depth is orientative.
