About the Item

An impressive and authentic antique iron key dating to the late 17th century. Measuring 18.5 cm in length, this key was likely made for a large estate, church, or strongroom lock. The bit is finely crafted with a complex ward pattern, measuring 3.5 × 3 cm, designed to match the intricate security mechanisms of the period. The key features: Hand-forged construction, with a slightly irregular oval bow typical of pre-industrial locksmith work. A turned and filed shaft with decorative rings, showing the craftsmanship of the Baroque era. Rich age patina with smooth wear from centuries of use. A substantial and historical piece, both functional and symbolic, representing authority and security in the late 1600s to early 1700s. Keys of this size and quality were often used for doors, gates, or church locks. Dimensions: Length: 18.5 cm Bit: 3.5 × 3 cm
