17th Century Cast Iron Fireback with Dat and Family Shield

About the Item

Fireback, dating from the 18th century. To the Arms of Alliance of Louis-Alexandre Comte de Salles, Baron de Rorté, cavalry captain in the Orléans regiment, died in 1746 and of Marie-Louise de Beaveau, Marquise de Noviant, canoness of the chapter of Epinal, married on March 10, 1721. The wedding took place at the Château de Fléville. The Salles family descended from the illustrious Mérode family, they settled in Lorraine and Champagne in the 15th century and owned forges.
