Neptune is the god of the sea, as well as horses and all equestrian pursuits. As a sea deity, he can appear as a mighty, stern, and proud figure, yet at other times, he is the one who calms the stormy seas. This portrayal sometimes includes his wife, Amphitrite, the goddess of the sea, and their son, Triton.
