The tapering, fluted jambs surmounted by end blocks carved with stiff acanthus leaf, the frieze with cartouche to centre flanked by foliage. Moulded shelf above. With its original decorative cast iron contracoeure insert. French, 19th century. (Opening sizes inside metal insert - 778mm wide x 618mm high.)
