1950s Pair Custom Thonet Style Scissor Chairs, 1920s Table Marked Thonet

About the Item

Scissor lounge chairs become even more irresistible re-imagined in a zebra pattern that is chic and durable. This is the most comfortable chair to while away time, read and relax. They are sturdy and in very good vintage condition. The chairs are fun with a lot of mid century detail. They were a rose colored velvet when we acquired them, but have since been made into the pristine chairs pictured. They are made of ash and laminate, and they are known as X-curve, ax or sometimes referred to as scissor chairs. The chairs are low and comfortable. The table cushion is clearly marked "Thonet" 1926. The vinyl cushion for the table shows sings of age. It is no longer bright and looks a little faded. The chairs are from the second quarter of the 20th century according to our appraiser. The wood part of the chairs is in good vintage condition, but they could benefit from retouching or new stain and varnish. The three pieces can each be blanket-wrapped and shipped anywhere in the Continental U.S. Local buyers see shipping. Bonus: A bolt of surplus fabric included. Interesting retro pieces.

Condition:

Reupholstered. Wear consistent with age and use. As mentioned, the finish of the chairs deserves a bit of renovation. But these are rare and otherwise in wonderful "vintage showroom" condition with extra fabric included.

This chair is truly unique and deserved a makeover: it got one! This has wonderful lines, and the white upholstery looks fabulous against the black frame. The construction is sturdy and the chair is quite comfrtable. It is mid 20th Century at the earliest but more likely 1980s and in the Art Deco revival style.
