About the Item

A large late 19th C. Shell back designed Adult wicker rocker and matching Childs rocker by the famous Wakefield Rattan Company of Wakefield Massachusetts. They are both beautifully done in a gorgeous natural finish with natural pressed cane seats and are in excellent condition.The adult rocker is large, strong and beautiful decorated with loops of rattan cascading down from the widest width of the chairs back to just above the chairs seat forming the handsome shell shape and of course ending at its bottom with the traditional curlycue decoration of the period. The seat frame is skirted below by Wakefields early ring design joined by curlycue decoration.The arms legs and stretches are all wrapped in rattan and beneath each arm the loop decoration of the shell back design is continued. The matching chids rocker is equally beautiful but with a slightly more child friendly design.It measures: 24"Ht. x 15" W. x 19.5" D. x seat Ht. 11" These shell back wicker rockers are in excellent condition, very comfortable and a wonderful example of this golden age.
