A matched pair of Antique Art Deco Style Wicker Lounge Chairs, American, C. 1920s. These chairs were the height of fashion in the 1920s. Painted reed furniture was all the rage for a short period with their dramatic design shapes and colorful patterns. Heywood Wakefield, whom I attribute this pair of chairs to and several other companies offered extensive lines of this furniture which were being influenced by the the French Art Deco style popular during this period.This style furniture was last seen in the 1929 Heywood Wakefield catalogues as the depression, change in styles and prohibitive cost of hand weaving etc put an end to this great era.
