Set of Four Mario Papperzini Style Iron Bronze Garden Dining Chairs
About the Item
Iconic mid-century modern set of four patio and garden dining armchairs made in the style and manner of Mario Papperzini for John Salterini. The chairs feature wrought iron frames with lattice seats and backs in the neoclassical style topped with bronze ball finials. The generous seats have scrolled arms measuring 25 inches high in the center. The older painted finish looks great with a desirable slightly aged patina. Strong and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. From an estate in Beverly Hills, CA.

Dramatic and grand set of fourteen patio and garden dining chairs made in the Italian manner and style of Mario Papperzini. The large chairs feature iron frames with a gracefully arched backs having bronze finials on the corners. The backs are inset with a geometric lattice pattern in a neoclassical style. The set consists of twelve side chairs and two host armchairs. The seats measure 19 inches high without the cushions. The seats are topped with conforming, thick seat cushions having weathered vintage fabric. The front legs have a whimsical style with a splayed foot. The legs are conjoined by curved stretchers. A set of 4 gorgeous, impressive and rare Modernist iron strap vintage armchairs in wonderful, refinished condition. Likely made in the 1980s in continental Europe, these fabulously striking, assuredly robust and yet seductively sleek armchairs will add timeless sculptural elegance and bold sophistication to any outdoor setting.
Impressively sized and reassuringly heavy, these stately armchairs are made of iron and due to their wide iron-strap seats and superbly sweeping backs are – rather surprisingly – extremely comfortable, even without a cushion! The gracefully flowing lines and over-curving back and arms are particularly stunning, and the large seats and broad backs make them the ideal statement garden chairs.
