From Lourmarin, France, dating to the 1800s, this marble column capital has hand-carved motifs on two sides, indicating that it was originally a corner architectural. The cream colored marble, which has accents of brown, ochre, and light gray patinas, is adorned with a fruited plant rising from an urn on each side that is partially enclosed within angular volutes. The base has repeating palmettes above a slightly rolled foot with cyma molding, both of which are viewable on all sides.
