About

This lovely old heating stove comes from Oak Springs Farm, Bunny Mellon's estate in Virginia. Made in Sweden, circa 1790 to circa 1810 the stove has been reduced in size thru the years and now serves as a lovely pedestal or plant stand. Crafted of glazed yellow terracotta, it disassembles into several sections that interlock and retains its pierced galleried section that now is surmounted by a French fossilized marble top. The doors for coal still work and open to reveal the compartmented housings and the whole is raised up on iron feet that are decorated with glazed terra cotta lion paw feet that slip around the utilitarian iron feet. The stove is bound in nice bronze strap work and has one bronze door and one iron door.
