About the Item

1920's pair of Egyptian Winged Sun bronze urns or planters. Nice patina with removable tin inserts and double handles. Front and back have Egyptian winged sun symbols. The winged sun is one of the oldest sun symbols. This ancient solar symbol depicts the disc of the sun flanked by an outstretched wing on each side. Frequently, as these urns depict, two stylized rearing cobras, or uraeuses, adorn each side of the sun. The winged sun symbolizes concepts of power, divinity, eternal life, and the soul. Each urn or planter is 12.5" wide at the handles, 8 .5" diameter x 9.5" tall.
