About the Item

This magnificent pair of reconstituted stone urns exudes timeless classical charm and architectural grandeur. Acquired at an estate auction held in a French château, these urns were originally part of a refined garden setting, reflecting the cultivated taste and elegance of their former environment. The design is strongly inspired by late 19th-century neoclassical garden ornamentation, with its elegantly rounded body, deep gadrooning, and fluted pedestal rising from a square base. The scalloped rim, detailed with stylized acanthus leaves, recalls the grandeur of the Belle Époque and the decorative traditions found in prestigious châteaux gardens. While the form pays clear homage to the 1880–1900 period, these urns are more likely to have been crafted in the mid-to-late 20th century, when high-quality reproductions of classical garden pieces became popular in France. Made from reconstituted stone — a durable composite material designed to age beautifully outdoors — they feature a naturally weathered patina, with subtle traces of moss and lichen that further enhance their authentic charm. This particular model is known as “Chambord”, a timeless design often associated with French heritage estates and formal gardens. Imposing without being overwhelming, they make a striking architectural statement flanking a pathway, an entrance, or anchoring a terrace. Whether planted or left empty as sculptural objects, they offer presence, history, and elegance — perfect for those seeking to add character and soul to an outdoor space.
