About the Item

This sculptural pair of cast stone garden urns, each composed of a classical urn resting on a pedestal base, was made in Italy circa 1960 and is signed by Italgarden, a noted mid-20th-century Italian maker of architectural garden ornaments. The design features a robust campana-form urn with stylized foliate reliefs and opposing ram's head handles in bold high relief. The rim is decorated with an egg-and-dart molding, while the pedestal showcases a fluted neoclassical column with Ionic volutes and acanthus-leaf capitals, evoking the grandeur of Greco-Roman architecture. Measuring 15 inches in diameter and standing 54.75 inches high, these stately urns are ideal for framing a grand entryway, flanking a formal garden path, or accenting a terrace. The pale gray cast stone has developed an appealing aged surface with light pitting and natural texture, enhancing their antique appearance. Founded in mid-century Italy, Italgarden specialized in classical-style cast stone urns, statues, and garden ornaments. Their pieces were prized for combining durability with historical elegance, offering a refined alternative to carved stone. Today, signed Italgarden works are sought after by designers and collectors alike for their sculptural presence and enduring craftsmanship. In excellent vintage condition with minor wear consistent with outdoor use. A striking marriage of classical elegance and mid-century Italian artistry.
