About the Item
The Vanderbilt Hotel was a luxurious landmark in New York City. Built in 1913 by Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, it showcased opulent architecture and hosted prominent guests. The building was designed by architects Warren and Wetmore in 1912 and still stands today. Renamed the "Grand Hyatt New York" in 1980, it continues to be an iconic destination, blending history with modern elegance.
This antique cast terra cotta bust of the goddess Ariadne, the immortal wife of the wine god Dionysus, was salvaged from the very top of the former Vanderbilt Hotel on 4 Park Avenue in New York City. It was made of two pieces, the top is hollow with a terra cotta outer surface and the bottom is filled with brick with a terra cotta outer surface. This construction allowed for easy transport and weight stability. There are several available in various conditions. This listing is for the statue pictured.
